At ONATAH Dachshunds we aim to match puppies with forever homes based on the puppies temperament and personality and the new owners lifestyle. Our goal is to breed the best Miniature Dachshunds in mind and body that we can and to match them with people who will treasure them and give them a lifelong home.
ONATAH Dachshund Puppies are quality dogs that are bred for their temperament and health. We believe the happiest life for a dog is as a loved family pet and we strive to match our puppies with families who can give them the time and attention they require.
Our Puppies are born and raised inside our home and receive the very best care, attention and of course lots of love. We raise our puppies using Puppy Culture; this is a regime put together by vets, behavioural specialists and breeders to help puppies to transition into their new homes as smoothly possible. Puppy Culture involves many exercises such as desensitising puppies to noises such as Sirens, Thunder, Children, loud noises. It also involves introducing pups to things such as water and swimming, walking on a leash, socialisation with not only other dogs but other animals big and small. If you have any questions or would like more information about Puppy Culture feel welcome to Contact us.
All of our Dachshunds are PRA Chord 1 Clear (and all outside stud dogs we use are DNA tested), all of the puppies that we have bred and will breed in the future are either PRA Clear, or PRA Carriers, we do not produce PRA affected dogs. PRA is a form of night blindness and can easily be avoided by genetically testing breeding dogs, it is a fairly affordable test which all ethical breeders should do.
Along with the PRA status, our dogs have had full DNA profiles done to ensure they carry no abnormalities that can be passed onto their offspring and copies of their paperwork are given in each Puppy Pack.
All of our puppies come from DNA tested parents, they come microchipped, with their 6 and 12 week vaccinations, wormed each fortnight and they come with a puppy start up pack to help them transition into their new home and life.
Puppies are socialised well, they are used to having their nails clipped weekly and ears cleaned. Puppies have been handled from birth and socialised with our adult Dachshunds from 4 weeks old once their eyes and ears open and they start walking. Puppies are also socialised with animals such as chickens, ducks, geese, horses, and other dog breeds small to large.
Our puppies are $4,000, buyers are asked to sign a desexing contract and a refund of $500 will be made upon proof of desexing (and not bred) by 12 months old. A $500 deposit (or more if you wish) is required to 'hold' a puppy, and if you have already chosen a name, please let us know ASAP so we can arrange the documents and their puppy packs.
Unfortunately we do not ship our puppies interstate, I am a strong believer in meeting my puppy buyers, and having them come to my home to see how the puppies have been raised, the temperaments of the parents and of course my other dogs. I encourage puppy buyers to come and spend time with us, to get to know us and get to know our dogs. I also like to create a relationship with my puppy buyers, to keep in touch and be available for any advice and help throughout the dogs entire life.
All of our dogs are Purebred Miniature Dachshunds, however our puppies do not come with pedigree papers, copies of parents family tree are included in our information packs with each pup. If you have any questions regarding this, feel welcome to ask.
